Summary
Set on the island of Lanzarote during the Spanish Civil War, this is the story of young Dr. Fermin who becomes the island doctor and falls under the spell of the bewitching Mararía. She returns his attentions until a young English surveyor arrives. Mararía is attracted to the Englishman and this sets the stage for tragedy for each of them
