Summary
This large collection of primary documents on the Bolshevik Revolution of 1917 presents a fascinating look at unfolding events, both well known and obscure, in the midst of national crisis. Organized chronologically beginning with background events in World War I and proceeding through to the beginning of Soviet rule in 1918, documents include newspaper articles, letters, cartoons and official proclamations from a variety of groups including anarchists, Socialist Revolutionaries, and Bolsheviks. This work is part of a series intended to widen understanding of historical conflicts through examination of primary source material. Other volumes cover the Crusades, the Cuban Revolution, World War II and Native American struggles. Appropriate for undergraduate history students but also appealing to general readers, this volume is edited by Micheal Hickey a professor of history ant Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania and an expert on the Russian Revolution.
