Summary
Offering a total of 83 b&w historical photos (many newly discovered and published here for the first time), this work seeks the facts behind the legend of outlaw John Wesley Hardin. After 16 years in prison, Hardin was pardoned and worked as an attorney in El Paso. He was writing an autobiography when he was shot dead in a gunfight in 1895 at age 42. The authors meticulously fact-check the claims Hardin made in his 200-page autobiographical manuscript and also discover new info on his brothers and other relatives. They seek to understand why he went against his religious upbringing and why he killed at least 20 people. The authors have each written other books on the Wild West.
